Phenoscape

03/18/2010 - 03/21/2010

Biodiversity Synthesis Center, The Field Museum,  Chicago, IL, USA

BioSynC hosted the Phenoscape meeting from March 18 - 21, 2010.  The Phenoscape Knowledgebase uses ontologies to integrate phenotypic data and genetic studies, presently for fishes but with several parallel projects also underway for other taxonomic groups. It is a powerful tool for systematics, developmental biology, and genomics research. Goals of the meeting are twofold: one is education and outreach to a broad group of local morphologists, and the other is getting feedback on new trial interfaces for the Phenoscape Knowledgebase and interoperability with large information sources such as EOL and MorphBank.
